On to my birthday...
I love having my birthday during the school year. I mean, let's just come out and say it....who doesn't like to get gifts? I feel bad for you teachers who have summer birthdays, because you are missing out!
My morning started out with my awesome hubby running out and getting me breakfast and a mean bean. What's a mean bean, you say? Are you sure you want to know? Because, if I tell you, and you have one, then you cannot come back complaining about how you are hopelessly addicted to them. I swear...it's a problem.

This is a mean bean. And yes, it is tasty.

So I had breakfast and a mean bean...pretty much the best way to start out the day. Then my BFF and team member Laura brought me this basket of goodies.

Let me break this down for you: $15 Starbucks giftcard, box of Hazelnut k-cups, easy to care for classroom plant, and a bottle of Flip Flop Riesling.

Yes, she knows me well....very well. That is why she is my BFF. And in case you were wondering, I don't have a Keurig....yet. But it is on my birthday wishlist so...... :)

This is the card she got me.

Hehe...love her.
Then I had a student bring in a pound cake for me and some brownies for my littles. All my students got together and got me a School Box giftcard! This girl can't wait to go shopping!

My hubby and I went to Buca di Beppo for dinner....yummy!!! We were going to go see Wanderlust after dinner, but got a flat on the way. In our brand new car. That has less than 3,000 miles on it. Bummer.

Overall, an awesome day....and my real birthday isn't even until tomorrow!
Off to enjoy a certain beverage birthday gift.... :)

She Said WHAT?!?! Linky Party Fun

Hey yall! Its Thursday....one of my favorite days of the week :) So ready for a night of NBC tele!

Today was the most beautiful day here in Georgia! See exhibit A.

I wanted to keep my littles out for extra recess...but curriculum called :(
Boo, sometimes work ruins all the fun.

As soon as I got home, the hubs and I immediately put the pups in the car and headed for the dog park. The area I live in has this ah-mazing dog park that was actually built by Beneful! Apparently, they had this dog park design contest and the guy that won was from this town....so Beneful built his dream dog park! Get this yall....it was a $500,000 dog park! And it is b-e-a-utiful!

Anyways....not sure where I was going with this...

I was going to post tonight about this new resource I came across...but I think I'll save that for another night, seeing as how I have already gotten way off track.

So instead, I will just have some fun with a linky party! Jeannie at Kindergarten Lifestyle is having a "Kids Say the Darnest Things" linky party....sounds like fun!
Stop silently judging my font choice...it's the only one that would fit!
Ha!!! You would have to know this little girl to really appreciate how funny this was....but just trust me, this is worthy of quite the giggle!

I could probably do a million of these....so if I show back up tomorrow with another, don't hate :)

On another note, I am at 95 followers! Almost there!!! I just need 5 more by Saturday, and I can have a super duper birthday/100 follower giveaway!!! Yay!

Gotta go yall! Laundry and NBC are calling my name...

The Great Seuss Debacle and a *Freebie*!!!

Hey yall! Happy Monday...err Tuesday! All day long I kept thinking it was Monday. I tried to take my littles to their Monday specials, I forgot about carpool duty, and I was excited to watch How I Met Your Mother tonight.

Then...it hit me. It's Tuesday!!! That was the most happy I felt all day...which is actually pretty sad, come to think of it. But Tuesdays are way better than Mondays
because
1. Parenthood (my favorite, favorite, favorite show!!!)
and
2. It's almost humpday :)

So, have you all heard of the great Seuss debacle? I'm sure the drama has made its way over to you...if not, beware, it's coming. Apparently, we cannot create anything with "Seuss-like" characters and call it Dr. Seuss or Cat in the Hat. Well, duh. I'm not trying to copyright the all and mighty Dr.....but come on!!! Anyways, because of this, I have had to change the name of my On the Loose with Dr. Seuss unit....it is now being called On the Loose with Dr. You-Know-Who. If you bought this unit on Teacher's Notebook or Teachers Pay Teachers, please go and download it again.

Before this nonsense drama situation began, I was already knee-deep in a Dr. You-Know-Who inspired math unit, to go along with my literacy unit. There may be a few references included, because I apparently just can'tt bite my tongue :)

Click on the picture to get this unit from my TN store, or click here to get it from my TPT store.

And...because I am feeling super excited to *almost* be at 100 followers, I am including a little freebie for you. Click on the picture to get it.

Do you think the made-up word Seussy is too bold? I sure hope not, because it's out there now!

I *promise* I will be back later with week with something more meaningful to say :)

In the meantime, I will just leave you with these cutie patooties who had a spa makeover last night.

Alrighty, time for my favorite part of the night-Cocoa Pebbles! Night yall!

Wait, wait, wait!!! Don't forget to head over to Teaching Blog Addict to enter the HUGE giveaway!

Thanks and Some Freebies!

Hey yall! Happy Sunday! This is going to be just a real quick post, then I'm back to enjoying my long weekend :)

First of all, a huge thank you to Ms. T from Journey of a Substitute Teacher. She gave my little blog a shout out and brought me lots of new followers! Thanks so much! I was so excited to see that I had gained 10 new followers in one day! Now that 100 follower goal doesn't seem so far off.

I am loving seeing all this Dr. Seuss stuff all over. It is probably one of my favorite weeks of the year. Unfortunately, our Dr. Seuss week is cut pretty short this year, because our school is doing benchmark testing (again?!?) that week. So we have to keep our fun to a minimum, with the majority of our activities saved for that Friday. However, I did manage to create some extra literacy centers that we can use throughout the week. But since I have already posted my On the Loose with Dr. Seuss unit, I've decided to post them here for free!

In our reading series, we will be working on long i words...

...and we will be working on word endings (-s, -ed, and -ing).

Does anyone else have the Story Town reading series? I actually love this reading series! I feel that it is very comprehensive and offers easy differentiated lessons. I always supplement with some reading centers, though. What are your thoughts on this series?

On another note, I seem to be stuck around 56 followers and haven't had any new followers in quite some time. Darn it. I was hoping to be at 100 followers by now, so that I could have a giveaway! I have this Target giftcard just burning a hole in my pocket people! So, want a chance to win a Target giftcard and my Lots of Luck unit? Spread the word about me! As soon as I get to that coveted 100 followers, I will give it all away :) Help me, bloggy friends.

President's Day = 4 Day Weekend!

Hey yall! I know it's only Thursday night, and I hate to rub it in your face but.......I get a four day weekend! Whoo-hoo! Thank you President's Day!!!

Today was such a great day with my littles, but ended kind of sad. I had 3 students out with the yuckies, and one left early in the morning. So I was down to only 19 little bodies in my tiny, tiny classroom. Even though the students that were absent are actually very well behaved, something about having fewer kids made for a more peaceful day :) The sad part? One of my students withdrew from school. She was this tiny, sweet little thing that had made such great strides in the last few months, and I am so sad to lose her :(

So......because of the four day weekend, my team and I decided to go ahead and celebrate President's Day today. Thanks to all of you, I literally had to do zero planning and it was nice. I had found some great freebies around the blogosphere (and am finding more as we speak)!

First, we started off our day with a fun President's Day wordsearch from Rachelle at What the Teacher Wants.

Then we read these books...

...and made this super cute craftivity from Amy at Step Into Second Grade! They turned out unbelievably adorable and the littles had a blast!

Aren't they awesome? I just love all the different faces :)

Next, we tried to make as many words as we could using the letters "presidents" and wrote about what we would do as president! These activities came from Teri at A Cupcake for the Teacher. Hey Teri, do you know how many times I got asked "What does a cupcake for the teacher mean?" today? Ha! I told them it was this awesome website that I was obsessed with :)

Anywhoo....time to go enjoy my looooong weekend! Please don't be jealous....I really need this!

I'm in a sappy kinda mood, so I'm off to watch The Notebook. Cue the tears!
