The Quiet Game {A Bright Idea}

Hey yall!

By now we're all enjoying summer full force and school seems a million days away.
But somewhere in the back of your mind, you're secretly already planning for next year.

It's a sickness, I tell ya.

Luckily for you, the sickness is widespread.
So even though its the middle of June, another round of Bright Ideas is coming your way!

Today I'm going to tell you about a little game we sometimes play called The Quiet Game.
We play it when we're standing in the hallway for an extended amount of time (like a bathroom break), waiting in line (like in a lunch line), or any other time of the day when my kiddos are expected to be quiet for any length of time (like waiting for busses at the end of the day).

It's a very simple game, but it seriously works like a charm.
every. single. time.

You start by finding a student that is doing exactly as they should: standing quietly, eyes forward, hands behind their back-whatever your rules are, they should be following them.

You tell that student that they get to start The Quiet Game. Then that student stands off to the side and gets to choose who else is following all the rules.

They choose that person and then get back in line. That person then gets to choose who the next one is...and so on.

Now, usually just being able to stand out of line for a minute is motivation enough for the rest of my students to straighten up. As soon as I choose someone to start The Quiet Game, the rest of my class quickly gets it together.

I usually don't offer any type of reward, especially when we're standing in the hall. My students know what to look for and know they can only choose classmates who are following all the rules.

However, sometimes I will throw in something small to keep it interesting. Sometimes I might give them an M&M or a sticker for being chosen. But not often.

That's it. Seriously. It WORKS!

Georgia Bloggers Blog Hop {and Giveaway!}

Hey yall!
My sweet Georgia bloggy buddies and I have teamed up to bring you a fun little hop/giveaway!

Let me start by telling you a bit about my city.
I'm in Augusta. As you can see from the map below, Augusta is a border town.
We're just a hop, skip, and a stone's throw away from South Carolina.

In fact, the neighboring town in South Carolina is called North Augusta and that is where my sweet hubby is from :)

Augusta is also home to the most prestigious golf tournament every year.
The Masters, anyone?

Every year in April, the world's greatest golfers {along with thousands of adoring fans and even some celebrities} swarm our city for a week. Our local school systems use that week as our Spring Break as well.

Most people use that week to rent out their house and get out of town.
I, however, love nothing more than sticking around to take part in all the fun :)
I've even worked at the tournament while in college {I actually waited on Phil Mickelson at the clubhouse!}.

Although growing up I always complained about how there is nothing to do around here, I honestly love this town and have no desire to move. The few years I spent in Atlanta really helped me to realize that Augusta is my home and always will be.

Okay, enough about this great city, on to the freebie!

My freebie is something I made for a coworker of mine who teaches kindergarten. She wanted some golf-themed centers to use with her kiddos before Masters week. Hope you can use them!

This week, I've been doing a lot of work on my new business....Jamberry!
I've never done direct sales before, so its all new to me. But I'm really loving it so far and my nails have never been prettier!

I've been working on learning everything I can about Jamberry, sending out samples, booking parties, and doing my nails {of course!}.

Interested in Jamberry? Check out my website here.

I've also been working on a new décor pack, featuring ruby shoes, a man covered in silver, and a magical witch.

That's right...it's a Wizard of Oz themed classroom!

Here's a little sneak peek...

I should have it posted by the end of the week, so be sure to follow my TPT store to be notified when it's on sale :)

Happy hump day, friends!

Five for Friday

Hey yall! Happy Friday!

Although, it doesn't really matter what day of the week it is....its all summer!
It's been a fun-filled summer week, so I thought I would link up with Casey :)

Be warned though....there is nothing educational about this post at all!

1. I've been joining Katie and tons of other bloggers this month for #nojigglejune. Teachers are dedicated to their fitness! It's a fun way to keep each other motivated.

2. My mom informed me this week that my beloved first car is doomed for the scrapyard. I bought this baby at 16 and zipped all around town in it, top down and hair just a'blowin in the wind.
Man, those were the days.

This ol' gal holds some cherished memories and I'll be sad to see her go :(

3. The countdown to Vegas for the big TPT conference is officially on, folks! This little number came in the mail yesterday and I'm so ready to rock it! T-minus 26 days!!!

Photo: 27 days til Vegas!!!

4. My all-time favorite band came to town this week. They haven't played in Augusta in 17 years, so it was a BIG deal to see them on my home turf! We usually have to travel to see them, but not this time! It was such a blast and I hope they come again :)

5. Have you heard of Jamberry Nail Wraps? I had seen some really awesome jamicures floating around on IG and was dying to try them out. My sweet friend Valerie sent me a couple samples to try for the Chip Challenge and I was hooked, yall! I decided right then and there to become a consultant.

So what are Jamberry Nail Wraps? They are non-toxic heat-activated vinyl nail wraps that come in over 300 cool designs. They last for up to 2 weeks on your fingers and 4 plus weeks on your toes. Unlike traditional polish, these wraps don't chip and will never fade.

Check out these adorable jamicures!

Want to try some? I'm sending out samples now! Just shoot me an email with your name and address.
I'm also on the look out for hostesses! Interested in hosting an online Facebook party? Shoot me an email!
