We Survived the 100th Day!

Hey yall!

Yesterday we had our 100th day of school. We had so much fun!

At our school, we are split up by 'families.' Each family has multiple grade levels and are all stationed on the same hallway. Our hallway has Pre-K, kindergarten, 2 first grades, second grade, third grade, and fourth grade.

Each family has a name, motto, behavior plan, and activities that they do together. Our family name is Team LIFE (leaders inspiring future educators).

Our family decided to celebrate the 100th day together, so each grade level came up with an activity and the classes rotated to complete all 6 activities throughout the day.

1. 100th day snack: we had 10 different snack items and they counted out 10 of each one. They got to munch of their special snack throughout the rest of the day.

2. 100 fingerprints: they drew 10 circles on their paper and put 10 fingerprints in each circle. We had a cute paper for them to do this, but of course, our Riso was down so we had to make due.

3. If I had $100: each kiddo got $100 in play money and drew pictures/wrote about what they would do with it. I saw a lot of pictures of candy and ice cream...talk about a tummy ache!

4. During our lunch break, we learned about the number 100 with our favorite pals Annie and Moby!

5. 100 year old self-portraits: loved these! We let them have total control over this. Just handed over the materials and let them get creative!

6. 100 exercises: our health-nut 4th grade teacher wanted to do 100 exercises with the kiddos. Have you ever seen a 6 year old try to do a push-up or sit-up? Ha!!!

7. 100th day crowns: they made these cute crowns to wear throughout the day. It just happened that our class had this activity last, so they only got to wear them the last hour or so.

As we were making our crowns, we got word that our district was closing...for snow!!!
I know that so many of you are probably tired of hearing about snow, but this is a first for us! You don't get much snow here in East Georgia. In fact, it was a beautiful day here yesterday but is supposed to snow today. That's the South for ya, I guess!

So yes, I'm home today and tomorrow enjoying our "snow days"...even though I have yet to see any snow! Its supposed to be hitting us this afternoon, so we'll see.

Now I'm off to drink some hot cocoa and stare out the window :)

Ryan to the Rescue {Five for Friday}

Hey yall! Happy Friday!

Whoohoo for 3 day weekends! After these full moons and my lost-their-mind kiddos, this long weekend is just what I need.

Because I'm too tired to blog about anything we've done this week {which is a lot!}, I'm linking up with Casey. But as soon as I snap some pictures, I'll share everything we've been up to the last couple of weeks.

1. I graduated last month with my Specialist and this baby finally came in! Time to get some frames :)

2. Over the summer, I bought a couple of bean bag chairs for my library. The other day I heard a loud pop and looked over to find one of the bags had exploded...everywhere! Those pesky styrofoam balls were all over the place and sticking to everything. It literally took us an hour to clean it all up!

3. We've been learning about Lewis & Clark the past few weeks, so of course we had to go on an expedition! I taped some pictures of different plants and animals all over the hallway, whipped up some coon-skin hats, and my littles set out with their journals. Who says Social Studies can't be fun?

4. Ryan Gosling. Need I say more??? I keep this hottie posted to my teacher board behind my desk. He helps get me through some rough days!

5. Gee, thanks Ryan! There can never be too much Ryan, can there?

And yes, we did have a lock down drill today... :)

Slim Down Saturday

Hey yall!

Now that we are officially in the new year, its time to take action. I've been off and on diets and lifestyle changes for the past few years, but nothing has really stuck.

This year, though, I'm more determined than ever. If you've been reading my blog for awhile, you know that my hubby and I have been trying desperately to have a baby. You can read more about our journey here and here.

Well, we started the IUI process 3 different times, yet had to cancel mid-cycle each time for various reasons. My doctor has decided that we need to take a little break from all the hormones and give my body a rest. So we're taking a little hiatus until March.

However, he also decided that I need to lose about 30 pounds before coming back in March. Yikes! Now, I would personally like to lose more than 30 pounds, but doing that by March will be a challenge! But, if it means having a better chance of getting pregnant, then I'm up for the challenge!

So I'm linking up today with Gina over at Third Grade Tidbits for her new weekly linky....Slim Down Saturdays!

http://www.thirdgradetidbits.blogspot.com/2014/01/slim-down-saturdays-14.html

I'm hoping this linky {as well as an amazing FB group of other bloggers trying to get in shape} will keep me accountable each week. And I'm counting on yall to help me, too!

My ultimate goal is to lose 50 pounds by summer. However, my short term goal is to lose 30 pounds by mid-March. I've got a long way to go!

Since Wednesday morning, I have lost 5.8 pounds! Amazing, right? Well, its because I completed the 3 day juice cleanse from Joe Cross and Dr. Oz.

This entailed drinking 5 juices a day and then eating a dinner of only fruits and vegetables. Honestly, I didn't think I would be able to do it. My willpower is usually very weak and I almost expected to fail. But I did it!!!

Breakfast: Carrot Apple Ginger Juice

Mid-Morning: Mean Green Juice

Lunch: Gazpacho Juice

Afternoon Snack: Citrus Inspired Green Juice

Pre-Dinner: Sunset Blend Juice

For dinner each night, I had a plain baked potato, steamed broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots, and a cup of fruit (either strawberries or kiwis).

To be honest, some of these juices were not good. The lunch juice was too overpowering for me and I could barely drink the afternoon snack juice. But the morning juice was actually really, really good!

Day 1 was the hardest, because I had a couple of headaches and felt pretty hungry. But day 2 & 3 were great! I felt lots of energy and stayed pretty satisfied throughout the day.

If you are interested in more information on the cleanse, check out the website here.

My goal for next week is to drink more water and to start the Couch to 5K running program. My word for this week is motivation. I feel really good and motivated to stick to it this go around!

These photos are my motivation. I would LOVE to get back to that size!

Wish me luck, friends!
