We're heading up to Asheville, NC to meet some friends for the weekend. Hello hot tub, Catch Phrase, piano bar, downtown shopping, catching up, and re-lax-ation!!!
Since I will be MIA over the next few days, I wanted to link up with Casey for her weekly party!

Spring Fling {freebie}

Hey yall!

First of all, I want to say a huge thank you for all the sweet comments and emails I've received over the past couple days regarding my last post. You all left such heartfelt comments and I feel so amazingly blessed to have such a supportive bloggy community!

Although I don't usually like to bring the mood down with my posts, you need to know that not everything is always rainbows and unicorns. It is therapeutic for me to get those thoughts and feelings out there, and I cannot thank you enough for listening.

I can't say that I am 100% back to my happy self, but I'm working on getting there :)

With that being said, let's move on, shall we???

I have been hard at work over the last few weeks on my newest pack and it is finally done and uploaded!

Hey yall....

I am coming to you today with a very heavy heart, and I wanted to share with you all something that I have been struggling with for quite some time.

Anyone that knows me knows that I want to be a mother. I am the youngest of five, and have always wanted a big family. My hubby is from a much smaller family, so our visions didn't exactly match, but we both want kids.

What some people don't know is that we have been trying for almost 3 years to start our family. We haven't always tried consistently every month for those years, but I would say about 80% of the time. We did take a break when we moved to Atlanta a few years back, but started trying again once we were settled.

When we finally moved back to Augusta last May, we decided it was time to seek help. I went to the doctor and told her all about my struggles. She assured me that everything would be fine, but she would run some tests just to make sure. Of course, this meant the hubby would be subjected to some tests as well, which he was not excited about!

But he was all cleared by the doctor, so the focus turned to me. After completing some tests, the doctor told me that I was not ovulating and prescribed me to two different medications: Metformin and Clomid. I started taking Metformin first, and then started the Clomid two months later.

Well, I have now been taking Clomid for about 5 months and....nada. The doctor told me she would only allow me to take it for six months before referring me to a specialist.

The drug is doing its job, though, as I have been having regular positive ovulation tests. For some reason, though, we have still been unable to get pregnant.

My husband and I are at the age where most of our friends our married with children. Actually, we have been married for longer than most of our friends, yet they have all had children before us...some even multiple children! I am always so happy for each couple when I hear they are expecting, but a part of me cannot help but grieve for myself.

I got a text yesterday from a close friend that said she was expecting. My reaction? I immediately burst into tears...

Then I felt completely awful because a good friend would just feel joy. However, I can't help but think..."When will our time come?"

I wanted to share this with yall, because infertility is something that I struggle with each day. I feel like I am a complete let down for my husband, and spend each month praying that this will be the month.

Can anybody relate to my story? I need some encouragement and positivity yall. Any recommendations on what our next steps should be???

Sorry to bring the mood down today, but I just felt as if I needed to get this all out.

Five for Friday

Hey yall!

Whoo-hoo....it's Friday!

I know that brings Spring Break for some of you....super jello!

We still have *9* more school days before our Spring Break.

I think I can, I think I can!

I'm linking up with Casey for her fun weekly linky! Let's face it....Spring has arrived and my kiddos have the fever! I'm just trying to survive 'round these parts :)

Here are five *totally* random things from my week!

1. We had a fundraiser night at Chucky Cheese, so Chucky came to visit us! Poor thing was basically mobbed...

2. Okay, so this one isn't school related, but I couldn't resist. Our little Dude is quite possibly the sweetest, snuggliest dog in the whole world! He likes to snuggle right between the hubs and I at night, and often falls asleep in my arms :) Love that sweet, snuggly puppy!

3. Sorry if this offends anyone, but I had to share! I was grading spelling tests and ran across this...
The word was "cook." Ha!

4. Okay, so this was technically from last week, but I never shared. We had Career Day last week, and the littles had so much fun! There were like 10 different vehicles here that we got to check out, including a police car, a city bus, a garbage truck, and a military humvee (among others!). This sweetie loved getting to try on the soldier gear :)

5. This is how I'm currently spending my Friday night. Got my blanket, my Barefoot, and Les Miserables :)

Go link up with Casey!

St. Patty's Day Fun!

Hey yall!

Well, another Monday come and gone! To be honest, this was probably the best Monday I've had in awhile. My kiddos were well-behaved today, they were working extra hard, and I *finally* had my observation and it went really well!!!

So glad to finally have it over with. I haven't had the sit down yet to formally discuss, but I thought it went about as well as it could have. Phew!

St. Patrick's Day is usually one of my favorite holidays to celebrate in the classroom, but I just couldn't find that much time this year. I usually have the ol' pesky leprechaun come and mess up our classroom, but that just didn't happen this year. Partly because my kiddos have been 12 kinds of crazy lately and partly because we just didn't have the time.

We did sneak in a couple of fun activities though!

I put out tons of math centers...

We completed this adorable craftivity from my girl Cupcake.

And this fun activity from Lisa at Growing Firsties!

First grade sponsored a Shamrock Dance to raise some money for our upcoming field trip, and I made these cupcakes to sell!

We also had a photobooth where the students could take pictures with a leprechaun! And guess who's amazing husband was the lucky leprechaun???

He is such a huge supporter of my career and didn't even flinch when I asked him to do this for us. Thanks baby!!!

Now...off to eat some dinner and catch up on Walking Dead :)

In Case of Emergency...

Hey yall! Happy hump day!

I {heart} Wednesdays.

1. It's the middle of the week and you know the weekend is just around the corner.

2. Our students have early release on Wednesdays and get out at 1:20 so the teachers can have professional development. Yes, every Wednesday. We're a charter school, so we can do things like that. We make up the extra time throughout the rest of the week, though, so our kiddos are getting just as much time as they should.

3. I get to teach health!

Do yall love teaching health as much as I do???

The topics are so relevant to my kiddos and we always get to do a fun activity with our health lesson.

Take today's lesson....what to do in the case of an emergency.

We started by discussing what an emergency is. My littles had lots to say about that! They know way too much for their age...

Then we role played what to do in emergency situations. Oh, the dramatics!!!

Then we wrote about different emergencies and what we would do in those situations....call 911!

When I was first planning this lesson, I thought it would be fun to do a little phone craft to go along with our writing. I was going to just make my own, but then I stumbled across Ms. Leslie Ann's phone craft...perfect! Why reinvent the wheel, right?

How adorable are these???

An emergency is when a fire burns your house. In case of emergency, I would call 911.

An emergency is when a stranger tries to steal your kids. In case of emergency, I would say no to him and call the police.

An emergency is if the house is on fire. I would call 911. If the stranger told me to come to his house, I would call 911. If he steal out my house, I would call 911.
An emergency is when someone steals your child or baby. In case of emergency, I would call 911.

On another note, has anybody else's kids been 9 kinds of crazy??? Spring fever must be setting in...but we still have 3 full weeks before Spring Break!

Not that I'm counting down the days or anything...

Our Week in Seuss!

Hey yall! TGIF!

This has been a long, but fun week! Well, except for the fact that we had an unannounced meeting for an hour after school today....who does that on a Friday???

Anyways, since last week our school had a lot going on for Black History Month, we decided to celebrate the good Dr. this week! And boy did we celebrate!

Be prepared...there is a lot of pictures coming your way!

We started last Friday with a birthday party. We had cake, pin the hat on the cat, a Seussical photo booth with props, and then went outside to run off all that cake :)

We read a bazillion books and watched videos of books from this site. This site was awesome, because our school has YouTube blocked but these videos were accessible!

We made some fun craftivities, too!

I put out a ton of different math and literacy centers, most of which I had gathered from last year or from my own packs. However, I cannot share any of these with you due to the whole copyright fiasco... :(

We read "Bartholomew and the Oobleck" and then made our own oobleck!

Boy, was it messy!

We ended our week with a parade around the school. Some of the kiddos dressed up.

We made a class banner that turned out super cute, but I forgot to snap a picture of it. We had picked the book "Oh, the Places You'll Go!" for our banner, so my kiddos all wrote what they wanted to do when they grew up on balloons. I'll try and take a pic on Monday :)

Whew! Just looking at all those pictures is making me exhausted....good thing its the weekend, baby!!!
