CAFE Poster Freebie!

Hey yall!

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend...not too many more before school starts back for some of you! Eek! I cannot believe that it is almost August!

I am super stoked to be completely done and settled in to our new house. Every box unpacked, every picture hung, and everything has its place :)

Now to focus all my attention on getting a job!

I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to everyone that has purchased one of my items on TPT or TN. You have no idea how much it means to me that you all are able to use my products and that you love them as much as I do! It really helps, especially when my future with teaching is up in the air. I know that I will find something, but its so hard not to get discouraged with school starting back so soon. All of your purchases and sweet feedback really mean the world to me, so thank you!!!

Now onto my Manic Monday freebie :)

I have made some little CAFE posters that match my Owls on Dots set. Hope you can use them! Click the picture to get your copy. You can also find some matching Daily Five posters in my TPT store.

I promise to be a better blogger yall! Now that we are all settled, I feel like I can finally breathe :)

DIY Chevron Stripes!

Hey yall! Happy Monday!

I have been waiting for this day, because I am so excited to share my Monday Made It with you guys!

Sooo....when the hubs and I were discussing paint colors and such for the new house, I thought it would be really cool to do a big graphic design on one of the walls. And who doesn't love a good chevron, right?

This was my inspiration...

Pinned Image

Totally awesome, right?

I wasn't sure if we were going to be able to pull this off, but I was definitely willing to give it a go!

I enlisted the help of my mom, aka queen of crafty, and we got busy!

First, we gathered all the supplies...
*paint (2 different colors)
*painter's tape (I used a 3 in. Scotch painter's tape)
*measuring stick
*pencil
*rollers
*chalk line tool

I painted the whole room a light gray color that matched our duvet perfectly. I chose a slightly darker shade of gray for the stripes. No, I didn't go all fifty shades..... :)

My mom did all the measuring for me. Here is how the wall looked after we painted it the light gray.

Here are the basics when painting chevron stripes. The distance between peak to peak and crest to crest should be the same. The crest should be exactly midway between the two peaks of each stripe. Does this make any sense? This is a video that we watched before hand, and it does a much better job of explaining...

Much better, right?

Okay, so next we decided to snap a chalk line to help us measure out the points. It's kinda hard to tell in these pictures, but that light blue line is the chalk.

We used some tool that my folks had...it looks like this.

Now comes the hard part! Using your painter's tape, tape off each stripe so that the tape is in the inside of the base color. If you take a close look at my stripes, it looks like they are not even, right? But trust me...it works out in the end.

Remember that it doesn't have to be perfect :) Imperfection is what makes it unique!

After you have your stripes taped off, go back over the edges and make sure they are pressed down really good. The video even suggests using the base paint to seal in the edges.

Then paint your stripes! This was the fun part :) We put about 2 coats of paint on each stripe, then let them dry for a few hours.

And here are the final results!

I love, love, LOVE my chevron wall! I think it turned out amazing, and it looks just perfect with our bedding! Now our bedroom is all kinds of romantic :)

I still have some styling to finish in there, but I was dying to share this with you guys.

What do you think?

Tell Me More!

Hey yall!

The unpacking continues....I see the light at the end of the tunnel, though!
My bedroom is *almost* completely finished, which is a must, because I have something in there I want to share with you guys tomorrow for Monday Made It :) Can't wait to show yall!!!

Anyways, since the Bachelorette finale is coming on in t-minus 11 minutes, this is gonna be quick :)
I am linking up with Amy for her Tell Me More linky.

Okay, so here are some random facts about me :)

1. When I first ran across Amy's blog, I was totally excited because her last name is Lemons! My maiden name is Lemons, and it is not a common name. You might see some Lemmons, but I have yet to run across someone who is not family that spells it Lemons....cue Amy. I like to think that we are secretly related...even though I know it would only be by marriage :)

2. My hubby and I just moved into OUR house....no more rent! However, the situation in which we got this house is not typical. We actually inherited the house from my husband's uncle. It is a cute little house, but definitely needs some TLC. Thank heavens for Pinterest!

3. I hate seafood....except for tuna. I know this seems weird, as tuna is awfully 'fishy' tasting....but I load it down with mayonaise and relish :)

4. I have ALWAYS hated the color orange, but just recently started using it in my home a little. It seems to be growing on me a bit....especially when it's paired with teal.

orange and teal

5. I LOVE fruit, and will eat pretty much any type. My favorite fruit is probably kiwi, but I also love grapes, plums, strawberries and pomegranates.

6. I have a passion for interior design. In fact, I have wanted to be an interior designer for as long as I can remember. I was an art major in college for awhile, but somewhere along the way I realized it just wasn't going to happen. I switched my major to early childhood education and never looked back! I absolutely love teaching and am so glad I chose this path :) But I still love to design, especially my house and classroom, as much as I can!

7. The first time I was ever stung by a bee was last summer....and apparently I am allergic! I had this fear of bees my whole life, and now I know why!

Umm....do you see how big my hand got?!?!?

8. I love painting my toenails, and in high school I would paint them 3-4 times a week. I would actually change the polish to match my outfit for the next day...ha! Definitely don't have time for that anymore, but I still like to paint them at least every other week or so.

9. My very first job ever was at Zaxbys. I loved working there, and met so many of my forever friends during my time there. Even though I probably ate Zaxbys 6 times a week for the 2 years that I worked there, I can still eat it all the time. I love me some Zaxby's chicken!

10. I am the youngest of the five siblings. I have 2 older brothers and 2 older sisters. I love, love, love being the baby :)

Big Girl Panties and a Meetup!

Hey yall!

Missed me?

The hubs and I have finally moved into our first real home and we have been bi-zay!

Now, we have lived together for quite some time, but we have always been renters. But not anymore! No more rent for us!!!

I feel like I've finally got my big girl panties on :)

We have been packing/moving/unpacking/painting/cleaning like crazy the last week and I finally feel like we are beginning to make some progress. And we finally got our internet hooked up today, so I plugged back in, yall!

Now, if only I can find a job....then life would be perfect!

I'm not gonna lie...I'm starting to get a little stressed out about my work situation. Schools around here typically start within the first two weeks of August, so there is not much summer left. And the fact that I haven't even had one. single. interview. is a complete and total bummer.

So keep yall's fingers crossed for me, okay? I really need it.

As I was trying to get caught up on the 1000+ posts (I'm sure it's actually waaaaay more than that, but my Google Reader will only show 1000+) that I have missed this week, I happened to check out Randi's blog and saw this....

SC Meet-Up Poster

Say what?!?!?!

This girl lives in Augusta, which is only a hop, skip, and a jump away from Columbia :)
Sooo....guess who's going to this fabulous blogger meetup? Me, me, me!!!!!

I have all kinds of stoked to meet some of my absolute faves, like

Randi

Teach It With Class

Hope

Katie

and tons of others!

Only bad news is...I have to wait 2 whole months!

If any of you are close to Columbia and want to check out the meetup, head on over to Hope's post and leave a comment.

Speaking of meetups, I just realized that I never shared our Tennessee meetup over the 4th! I'm gonna wait until I can find my camera cord to share with you guys, but we had such a blast!

Gotta run yall....the boxes aren't going to unpack themselves!

She's baaaaack!

Hey yall!

I feel like its been forever! Probably because it has...but sometimes you just gotta stop and let life take over.

So....what have I been up to over the last couple of weeks? Let's review in pictures, shall we?

Spent a week in Gatlinburg, TN in this amazing cabin

Had this magnificent view from our balcony

Have been eating all kinds of yummy goodies...like this flag cake my sister made for the 4th

Playing games with the fam

Went to see Magic Mike with my sisters and oldest niece...this was my mom's reaction :)

Played with these cute little sugar bears

Spent lots of time with the hubs

Got to hang out with this little girl-my sweet niece Alyssa

Got countless massages from her....for a price :)

(don't worry....I got my free one!)

The hubs and I were also able to move into our house! So I have been painting, cleaning, and moving for the past week or so.

My niece enjoyed helping...a little bit. She had fun tearing down the wallpaper in our bathroom though!

Annnnd.....of course I have been shopping for my classroom! Even though I don't technically have a classroom for next year yet...I will definitely be ready when I do!

My summer has been amazing so far, but definitely a whirlwind! And it will be over soon :(

Off to enjoy the last of it!
