Paper to PDF

Hey yall!

Sorry I've been somewhat MIA lately.
I'm working on my gifted endorsement this summer and it is a ton of work!!!
But, to be honest, I don't have much to blog about lately, because I am not thinking about school at all. I'm just trying to keep my head above water with all this work, so come July, I'll be back on the bloggin' bandwagon :)

I did want to tell you a really cool app I discovered the other day. Its called Cam Scanner and it allows you to turn anything you take a picture of into a pdf file. Cool, right? The whole process takes about one minute and is way faster than scanning a document onto the computer.

I used it to take a picture of an assessment I needed for my classes. I took the pic, cropped it, and voila! It was a pdf file! Then I just emailed it to myself and now have a digital copy of the assessment.

I'm thinking this will really come in handy when trying to digitize some old teaching files. I mean, we all have those random papers that we file away and pull out to make copies of, right? Now all those papers can be stored digitally! I know that I have a whole file of papers that I keep on lock down, because those are the only copies I have. Well....no more!

It will also come in handy with all those receipts that pile up in the bottom of my purse. Now come on ladies, I know you do the same thing. Buy something, toss the receipt in your purse, and about 6 months later clean them out......right???

Now all those lovely receipts can be stored digitally! I'm not sure about you, but I try to keep all my receipts on purchases I make for my classroom, so I can write that stuff off at the end of the year. This app just made this task much simpler!

Also, I'm sure you all know by now, but Google Reader will be nonexistent come July 1st (along with Google Friend Connect). So, in order to keep up with all your favorite blogs, hop on over to Blog Lovin'. Just about every blog I follow is headed that way, including myself! Please, please, please come follow me on Blog Lovin'! I'd be super sad to lose any of you wonderful followers.

Chalkboard Craze

Hey yall!

Is it just me, or does chalkboard seem to be the new thing? It seems like its everywhere I look. I've even been working it into my home!

The first 2 pictures are pots that I spray painted with chalkboard paint for Mother's Day. The 3rd picture was my inspiration for my newest classroom set.

chalkboard + raffia = super chic!

I am seriously in love with this set! Since I'm moving to 5th grade next year, I'm thinking its time to retire the owls and this just may be what I use to replace them!

Five for.....what day is it???

Hey yall!

Is it just me, or do summer days just sort of blend together? Sometimes, I lose track of what day it is! Oh, the perks of teaching and summer break :)

I'm linking up with Casey, even though I'm a couple days late! I can see lots of linky parties in my future this summer!

1. Last weekend, the hubs and I traveled to Tennessee. Love, love, love the mountains! We just had to stop at some of the scenic overlooks to check out the view. Notice the awesome hair? The wind was out of control!

2. The hubs planted some tomatoes awhile ago and he has been babying them like crazy! But its been paying off! We've got about 7 baby green tomatoes :) Mmmmm....can't wait for some 'mater sandwiches!

3. The hubs was gracious enough to share his mancave with me so I could store all my teaching supplies. No, it was not mandatory for us to take everything home over the summer. However, I did pack up everything and bring it home, because I am in the process of trying to transfer schools. My current principal is moving me to 5th grade next year, and I am soooo not excited about it! I feel like most teachers truly have a passion for a certain age range and mine is definitely the primary grades. I don't even know how to talk to those big ol' 5th graders! So keep your fingers crossed for me to find the right place!

Oh, and no, his cave is not usually that clean. I had to help him clean it out to make room for all my stuff! I'm sure it will stay like this for about 5.7 seconds!

4. The hubs and I spent some time plinking with his grandpa today. I am so thankful that they live just a few miles away and we get to see them on a regular basis. My dad was in the Army, so we moved around a lot growing up and I never really got to develop a strong relationship with my grandparents while they were living. But my hubby's grandparents are amazing and I love them so, so much! I am so blessed to have such an amazing relationship with them.

5. It wouldn't be a Five post if I didn't sneak my babies in there :) Being home, I really get to see just how lazy these babies are though! I'm sure they just sleep the whole time the hubs and I are gone.

BTdubs, if I do end up moving to 5th, I'm going to need some serious help! Any suggestions on some 5th grade blogs that will give me some inspiration???

Monkey Madness {plus a freebie!}

Hey yall! Happy Monday!

This is my first Monday of the summer. I stayed up waaaay late last night and slept in till 11 this morning. Is it wrong that I'm still in my pjs at noon? That's my kinda summer :)

I have been working really hard on some coordinating packs for my Monkey Themed Classroom set.

Monkey Themed Word Wall: This pack includes Fry's first 200 words and it is EDITABLE, so you can add your own words!

Monkey Themed Schedule Cards: This pack includes 36 different schedule cards! All 36 cards are available in both brown and green chevron.

Monkey Themed Number Posters: This pack includes posters for numbers 0-20.

Not a big fan of monkeys? No worries...I've got other classroom sets, too! They all have coordinating packs as well :)

Any particular theme that you want to see next? I'm open to suggestions!

Any gifted teachers out there willing to help?

This is my desperate plea for help. I am currently working on getting my gifted endorsement this summer. We are supposed to find a gifted teacher that is willing to be our 'mentor' over the next few weeks. Any gifted teachers out there willing to help???

It would involve lots of emailing back and forth, and possibly a Skype session or two. Basically, I just need to pick your brain for a total of 10 hours :)

If you are willing to help me out, please shoot me an email at nlemacks@gmail.com

Currently Relaxed

Hey yall!

Yikes, its been over a week since I've blogged! That means summer is here :)

Since its a new month, you know what that means....Currently!

The hubs and I just got back from a trip to Johnson City, TN.
Like, just walked in the door about 20 minutes ago.
He ran to the store for me, and I'm sitting here in complete silence.
Peaceful :)

We went to go see this little lady get hitched.

It sure was fun! As we were driving back today, the Great Smoky Mountains were definitely living up to their name! Makes for a wonderful ride :)

Although I love, love, LOVE summer break, I tend to get a little bored. Even though I am taking some classes for my gifted endorsement (hence, my needing!) and am creating like a mad woman, I still find myself with tons of extra time during the summer. Call me crazy, but I like to stay busy! So off to find an easy, part-time summer job.

Vacay essentials: camera, swimsuit, books

You gotta have a camera to document all the fun you're having, right? I actually just use my phone...not even sure where my camera is!

Swimsuit....no matter where I go, the swimsuit is coming with me! Whether its to the beach or the mountains, this girl will find some water :)

Books! I love to read in my spare time, so gotta stock up on my good summer reads for vacay.

Guess I'm off to work on that homework....boo! Go check out Farley!
