Freebie on the First {and a little giveaway}!

Hey yall!

Can you believe that it is already December???

If you live in the south, its even harder to believe with this amazing weather. Today was a BEA-UTIFUL day with temps topping out at 70 degrees. Perfect day to get some Christmas decorations and a tree :)

Today I am linking up with Freebielicious for their Freebies on the First linky.

Raise your hand if you have a Polar Express day at your school.

That's what I thought.

Pretty much every elementary school (at least around here!) has some sort of Polar Express day in December. This little writing sheet is *perfect* to use that day to coordinate with the book OR the movie. Click on the picture below to get your copy!

And guess what else???

This little ol' blog has reached over 100,000 pageviews! Wha-hoo!

To celebrate, I will be giving away a copy of my All Aboard! The Polar Express Literacy Activities unit.

To enter, just leave me a comment below telling me what your class/school does to celebrate The Polar Express. I'll pick a winner Sunday night at 10 pm Eastern time.

Happy December, friends!

  1. We celebrate Polar Express Day during our Christmas Around the World week. We all come dressed in a pjs and slippers. After the morning announcements, we put our shoes outside our classroom and St. Nick delivers us a little present like the tradition in a few European countries... plus, we get a peek at Santa! We also read the book and enjoy fun activities all day long. At the end of the day, our PTA provides hot cocoa and we watch the movie.

Love this freebie! Already downloaded and will be going into my file to use in a few weeks.

  9. We all dress in PJ's for the day. Our students think it is a hoot to see their teacher's in PJ's then we board the train with our ticket and getting ready for an exciting day of Polar Express. We re-read the book, as we focus on it all week I love http://www.storylineonline.net/ to share someone else reading. We sequence the events and then decide which gift they would choose if they were selected to pick the first gift of Christmas. We finish our day watching the movie and comparing the book to the movie. We sip hot chocolate and eat Popcorn. So much fun and great memories for the children

  22. Our grade level has a Polar Express day. We watch the video and allow the kids to wear PJ's, bring pillows, blankets, etc... Some years we have popcorn and chocolate milk for them (depends on the maturity level of the group). At the end of the movie, every student gets a 'bell' to take home so they can remember what Christmas is all about (believing)!

  27. Hi! Love it!!! We do Polar Express the last week before the kids have break! We have hot cocoa w/ mini marshmallows and it is a PJ day for all of us! We print out tickets and use our hole punchers to punch it kind of like how Tom Hanks does it!! We also put a bell on a ribbon in their coat pockets or in their folders for them to find when they leave us!! Love Polar Express Day!!!
