The Yuck....and a Giveaway!!!

Hey yall! First of all, I want to say a huge thank you for all the sweet comments and emails on my post yesterday. If you missed that post, click here to read the story. It is always so hard to hear hurtful things, especially when you have no clue where they came from. My little told me today that his mom also called me arrogant! I am struggling with what to do with this information. Should I just forget about? Should I email the parent? I don't want to open up Pandora's box, but I also feel like I need to make sure I haven't done anything to offend this parent. I honestly can't think of a single thing, but you never know, I guess!

Anyways....on to the next.

I actually left school a little early today due to a bad cough and fever...yuck. And of course tomorrow is our field trip to the Georgia Aquarium! It is the most anticipated day of the year, and I refuse to miss out!

So I took my feverish self to the doc. The diagnosis? Upper respiratory infection. Luckily, I was armed with some antibiotics and the good cough syrup, so I should be all set for tomorrow...yippee! The doc said to just make sure not to cough in anyone's face....as if I needed the reminder!

Guess what? I have teamed up with some talented ladies for a Spring Ahead {well, not really yet} giveaway! Beth Ann, Sue, Laura, and I have some awesome stuff for you! Look what what is up for grabs...

Head on over to Beth Ann's blog to enter! This giveaway will close on Sunday, March 12th at midnight.

Alright, I can feel my meds kicking in, so time for a nap :)

Monday Mumblings, Linky Party, and Freebie!!!

Hey yall! Is it just me, or was Monday extra sneaky this week? I mean, here I am, just going about my weekend business when...BAM! It's Monday! Total bummer.

Also, I am super jealous about all these folks in bloggyland talking about their upcoming Spring breaks. We don't get our Spring break until the first week of April! Usually, I am okay with that, because it just happens to be the week that some little old golf tournament is playing around Augusta, my hometown.
{I'm talking about the Masters here, people! Only the most prestigious golf tournament in the world!}

But this year, I am getting a little ansy to go on Spring break because I am going to Japan to visit my sister...yayay {double yay = super excited}!

Okay, anyways, onto tonight's post. We are getting right into our SPD {St. Patty's Day} activities this week, and are reading this cute little book tomorrow.

And I just happened to find the cutest clipart from Scrappin Doodles for this book, so I had to whip up something for my teamies and I tomorrow. I am actually working on a whole unit, but this is what I came up with for tomorrow.

Since the whole unit is obviously not ready yet, I decided to give this away! I know, I know...I'm too giving :) Click on the picture to get your copy.

I am also linking up with Farley at Oh, Boy Fourth Grade for her Currently series. Here is my March currently.

The meaning behind the 3 words? You have to write 1 word {in this order} that your students, friends, and family would say about you. Yes, my students think I'm lavish, because every time I come in with new goodies or fun activities, they think I spent sooo much money. Ha! Although, it is sometimes true :)

And lasty, I have to tell you something that happened today that has been nagging me all day.
Okay, so this morning, one of my fave littles {yes, we ALL have favorites, don't lie} came to chat with me as always in the morning. This is the convo we had.

Me: Good Morning, B! How was your weekend?
B: Mrs. Lemacks, I have to tell you something. My mother does not like you.
Me: What??? Why???
B: She said it was a secret. She called you a not nice name.
Me {silently freaking out about what's coming next}: Well, you can tell me, if you want to.
B: Okay. She called you bossy and a word I can't ever say.
Me: Does it start with a b? {see where I was going here?}
B: No, it starts with an ST....it's stupid! She said you were bossy and stupid!
Me: Well....why???
B: I don't know. I was so embarrassed by her!
Me: Well, tell her that wasn't nice....and that I have 2 college degrees!

Yes, I went there. I couldn't help it! I have never heard a negative word about me from any parent, so I was in shock! And this is not a parent I have had any trouble with at all. I can't even remember the last time we spoke/emailed!

Now, I am not a parent, but how could a parent think it appropriate to disparage their child's teacher in front of said child? I mean, really?!?!

So, please...leave me some kind words. They are much needed tonight :)

Our Week in Seuss

Hey yall! Happy Saturday!
As promised, I am back with some pictures from our awesome Dr. Seuss week. So here goes....
On Monday, we read "The Lorax" and completed activities from my On the Loose unit. Students found rhyming words, made words with "cat in a hat," put words in ABC order, and sorted through nouns, verbs, and adjectives.
On Tuesday, we read "Horton Hears a Who" and made these pinterest inspired crafts.

On Wednesday, we read "Cat in the Hat" and made these little cuties.

On Thusday, we read "Bartholomew and the Oobleck" and made our own oobleck! They loved this!
We also made these adorable cakes from Teri at A Cupcake for the Teacher.

On Friday, we completed math centers from my On the Loose Math unit.

Students came to school dressed as their favorite Dr. Seuss characters.

Horton

Lorax
Cat in the Hat and some Things
Another Thing and Daisy Head Mayzie

Sam I Am
Another Thing

Another Cat in the Hat and more Things {we had lots of Things}

Then the kindergarten and first grade classes had a parade.

Lead by Cat in the Hat himself!
Our principal

Even our school mascot got in on the fun!

After the parade, we enjoyed some Seuss Juice from Cara at First Grade Parade. They loved it! I even had a little taste...yum!

At the end of the day, I passed out these little trinkets. I had found these in the Dollar Spot at Target last summer, and have been hanging onto them just for this purpose. The littles loved them!

Oh, and in case you were wondering, a little birdie told me yesterday that my class won the door decorating contest! Whoo-hoo! That means that we will have a birthday party for Dr. Seuss next week, complete with cake and ice cream...yum!

Off to babysit!
